LEARNING RESEARCH CENTER
What I’ve learned during the seminar in LRC (Learning Research Center is all about to facilitate learning. We have a lot of resources in learning and I think LRC is one of the best way to attain the knowledge from different resources that you can see in LRC.
When we had our seminar, I really had a great time by the discussion. Active learning is one of the best way for the students to learn. Active learning is all about to involve students in doing things and thinking about the things that they are doing. There are a lot of strategies that you can use in Active learning, as a teacher you can have collaborative learning with the students, make a task to them that they need to solve and after that let them have their presentation so that they can present what they have learned. You can also have games of course with the connection to your lesson. You can also have peer instruction, in this case the students will use a lot of thinking. You will give a question and after that let them answer it individually afterwards you proceed to the next step, let them raise their answers using cards, they will just choose the correct answer from letter A, B and C without saying the right answer, let them collaborate with their seatmates and after that let them raise their answer again and you will see that through this strategy they can be more active in answering the problem with the help of each other. It is important to know if your students have their response from your teaching and if they really learned the lesson. The next thing that I’ve learned was the Flipped classrooms. This kind of learning you need to consider that every individual students are different when it comes to learning, there are visual learners and some are auditory that’s why in flipping classroom you can make a video presentation for them to demonstrate and explain the lesson, there are a lot of students that are able to learn by doing the actual teaching than going into a discussion. With this they can also do their home works using their gadgets,
Cellphone, tablets and computers with the use of an internet that can access and enable them to attain knowledge.
Video Presentation
The things that I’ve Learned from our seminar Mrs. Clarisse Co was all about audio visual presentation. She told us what are the basic things needed for our video presentation. To make our video presentable, she taught us on how to make a story. In making a story she let us watched her own video which she made for their academy, all the graduating students in their school. Every picture has their childhood picture and their present picture, even it is just a pictures it can tell a story because of the before and after picture effects. The next step that she taught us was about the Music, It is very important to have the background music because it also brings the message to those people who are going to watch the video. The story and music must be related to the pictures that are going to be shown in the video. The Lyrics of the song must be checked first and the duration so that it will be exact on what time you want to end the video. The Texts are also important, if you want to have a quote, Poem and Bible verse to a story it must be readable and the duration must be exact when you’re reading it. Keep it short and sweet. The last and I think the most important are the pictures, It is the attraction wherein the viewers will have their interest to watch the video. We need to gather all the pictures a head of time before you will present it, Arranged it based on the story that you made, avoid Photos that are not clear, choose photos that can tell a story and take a candid shots. After that the next speaker was Ms. Maricris Sison she tackled everything about making a video, a Documentary or even a movie. She let us watched a Documentary before she presents everything, the Documentary is about the gold that has been found in the Philippines. She taught us the things that we need to have first before we go to make our own video presentation. First, she told us to have a Pre-Production, the Production team, script, location and the Timeline are included here, Of course you need to set all of these to settle to the next step. The Production team must have the Director who will direct everything but with the help of the Script writer, Camera man and all other staffs. The Script must be done by the writer with the help of the director, the location of the production is also need to plan ahead before you make a production also with the timeline. The Production is all about the Shooting, She taught us where we are going to locate or handle our camera during the shooting time. She taught us that in an interview the camera must be in the side of the interviewer and the one who was interviewed, when you need to take everything there is a wide shot and the nearer shot is when you need to emphasize the reaction or emotion of the person in the video. She taught us that it is important to have monopods during shooting because it will help a lot to take the scene on what you want it to be presented. She taught also about the Post- Production which is the editing time. The editors are the one who is responsible for it and it includes the effects, the video editing and the music editing.
